THE GATHERING PLAQUE
| Jan242013To celebrate the Year of the Gathering we are pleased to announce a new gift entitled “The Gathering Plaque”
It consists of a piece of 5000 year old Irish Bog Oak set in a frame(15mmx30mm) with the words “The Gathering” written in Ogham, the earliest known form of written Irish and a white plate with the words “The Gathering Ireland 2013” at the bottom.
The Bog Oak piece is long and narrow just like an Ogham Stone or standing Stone. These wood and stone inscriptions were used by the Celts back in the 4th/5th centuries as boundary markers and as memorials for the dead.
Selling at €49 plus €5 postage (normal price €65), it is sent in a black satin finish presentation box with a booklet on the history of Ogham and Bog Oak and an event card for the guests to sign as a memo of the occasion.
