Creating beautiful gifts out of bogwoods - About us

We have been working with bogwoods for many years, creating beautiful gifts for the retail trade. We supply most of the top Irish craft retailers in Ireland including The Kilkenny shops in Dublin, Kilkenny, Galway and Killarney, Seodin in Limerick and Ennis, The Cat & The Moon in Sligo, Judy Greene in Galway, Waterville Craft Centre, The Kilkenny Design Centre, Marble and Lemon in Cork, to name but a few.We also exhibit at Showcase Ireland at the R.D.S. Exhibition Centre in Dublin every year. We are a member of the Craft Council of Ireland.

Over the years, we built a strong affinity to our past heritage i.e. Celtic Civilisation through working with ancient bogwoods. Remember, Ireland was covered with forests at that time. The Celts cleared the forests to grow crops and used the felled trees to build houses and as a fuel for cooking.

Thankfully, they left some felled trees behind and over the last few thousand years the bogland grew and they became totally immersed and preserved to this day.

We gather the bogwoods from the four corners of Ireland. Back at our workshop, The Cork Studio, the bogwood is cut into thick planks and is air dried for about 12 months. It is then placed in a kiln and dried for many weeks until its moisture content is down to 10% -12%.

We then take the bogwood from the kiln to create the plaques that will adorn many thousands of homes and offices throughout the world.

"We bring an ancient Irish language and an ancient Irish timber together again."

We have other great ideas about gifts from bogwoods and will bring these online at a later date.
